My ADHD Journey

Hello! I'm Alicia Hendricks, a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, graphic designer, and entrepreneur. I’m 42 years old, and I recently learned I'm dyslexic and have ADHD. I believe the challenges I endured as a young girl in elementary school were preventable, and I’m beyond frustrated and even a little resentful because of it. I’m not blaming anyone, but I think I slipped through the cracks. I spent a lot of time feeling anxious, insecure, frustrated, confused, and alone in the classroom. As an adult with ADHD, I now understand why I struggle in conventional workplace settings. I now know and appreciate my strengths but have trouble finding the resources that support and complement my divergent learning style. I fight daily with managing my calendar and often feel that I’m unproductive, disorganized, and incapable. I know those internal beliefs are far from the truth. I’m intelligent, creative, innovative, and 100% capable. I’m relieved to understand my unique brain better and intrigued by how it works. I now know I just need resources that cater to me (thank you, Grammarly!) As an entrepreneur, I have experienced first-hand how draining starting a business can be. I am someone who thrives when having accountability and a community to collaborate with and lean on. Having a community is not only healthy and vital; it is a viable resource for my business and, likely, your business. With that, I am committed to creating an online networking hub (community) supporting neurodivergent entrepreneurs like myself. Oh, and I am no longer afraid to ask for help.
